Semi crashes into ambulance |
A semi, driven by Timothy Hjelle, was westbound on Highway 23 when it crashed into an ambulance, driven by Nathan Gatewood, that was northbound on Central Avenue in Milaca. According to Milaca Police Chief Mike Mott and firefighter Gregg Weller, the ambulance had it's emergency lights activated. The incident occurred around 4:45 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23. When the semi hit the ambulance, it spun the ambulance around so it was facing south in the photo and the cab of the semi ended up facing north. The Minnesota State Patrol handled the call with assistance from the Milaca Fire Department, the Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office and the Milaca Police Department. Traffic was rerouted until the accident could be cleared.
