I don't think getting help with your mortgage is part of a government program. If you have lost your job or took out a mortgage you cannot afford that is your business not Oberstar's or the government's. Don't use the government for a personal situation.

I question as to whether "bsqd 1977" has been living in a cave while our country has been entrenched in an economic crisis. Many of the people who have lost their jobs have invested many years in the same job and mourn as their employers have had to board up the doors. Those who have "taken out a mortgage they could not afford" were able to afford it when they took out the mortgage. Some of these have been in their homes many years, but loss of their employment has placed them in the heartbreaking position of losing their homes. The citizens of this country have paid taxes all their working lives. Without this money, there would be no government as we know it and the politicians such as Oberstar would be losing their livelihoods. Employment and mortgage relief are everyone's business. It will take all of us working together to turn this crisis around. So I say, come out of that cave and pitch in to help your neighbor as it could just as easily be you.
