| Predator offenders in county all found to be compliant |
|
Sheriff Brent C. Lindgren reports that the 2009 county wide law enforcement compliance checks of predatory offender registration verifications were once again recently completed. The county wide effort was organized by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office which includes the cities and communities of Vineland, Onamia, Wahkon, Isle, Foreston, Bock, and all the townships of the county. Mille Lacs Tribal, Onamia, and Isle Police departments assisted with the compliance checks this year and are included with this report. Other police departments conduct their own checks. Lindgren reports that this year there were 95 offenders checked by deputies and officers in the county wide effort and 95 of those checked were found to be compliant, which is 100 percent compliance. Lindgren reports that since being elected sheriff in 2002, holding offenders accountable has been a priority and continued commitment of his. “While it takes a little extra time to conduct compliance checks it keeps those individuals on their toes and reminds those individuals that law enforcement is watching them and holding them accountable”. Sheriff Lindgren reports that there are no level III offenders registered as residing in Mille Lacs County at this time. Level III offenders are deemed most likely to re-offend and their identity is public information. Over the years the sheriff’s office has strived for 100 percent compliance. Each year we have more offenders checked and our compliance has gone up. These are good indications we are effective in our mission to hold those offenders accountable. Recent history of compliance: 2009= 100% compliant 2008= 97% compliant 2007= unavailable at time of release 2006= 98% compliant 2005= 97% compliant 2004= 91% compliant |
