Meyer is new elementary assistant principal
•Jeff Meyer, a Milaca High School grad of 1989 who has been a teacher in the Milaca system since 1996 and was also head boys basketball coach for six years, has been hired as assistant elementary principal, effective July 22. Meyer replaces Ben Bakeberg who was hired for a position in the St. Michael-Albertville district.

Public invited to meet with new superintendent at Saturday meeting
•Superintendent Jerry Hanson, who took over as superintendent of Milaca Public Schools on July 1, will meet with members of the public on Saturday, Aug. 1, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Embers in Milaca. Hanson met earlier in the week with the public at the Drive In. “I’m looking forward to meeting more people in the community,” he told board members at their meeting last week.

Lunch prices to go up 10 cents in 2009-10
•The board approved raising lunch prices for the 2009-2010 school year. Breakfast prices will remain the same. Lunch prices will go from $1.90 to $2 at the elementary, from $2 to $2.10 at the high school and from $3.25 to $3.35 for adults. Breakfast prices are $1.20 at both schools and $1.60 for adults.

The Milaca School Board meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the board room.
