Mille Lacs County Assistant County Attorney Tara Ferguson Lopez and Mille Lacs County Deputy Dan Mott were honored at the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) Recognition Banquet at the Clarence Wigington Pavilion in St. Paul on March 25 for their contributions in arresting and prosecuting drunk drivers. Mott, who has been with the sheriff’s office for 5 years, was nominated for the Outstanding Service Award and Ferguson, who has been with the county attorney’s office for four years, received the Greater Minnesota Prosecutor Award. Mille Lacs County is the third highest for the number of felony-level DWIs per capita. In 2007, the county had 1,009 residents with three or more impaired driving incidents.
