Dale Madsen

Dale Merlin Madsen, age 73 of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota formerly of Milaca, Minnesota, died Saturday morning, August 2, 2014, at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna.
He was born September 24, 1940 in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Merlin and Evelyn (Madson) Madsen. He attended school in Blooming Prairie, graduating from Blooming Prairie High School in 1958. He married LaVon Filley on January 17, 1960 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. They were later divorced. Dale operated the Web Gas Station for a short time before joining Continental Telephone Company, which later became Frontier Telephone Company. He worked for the telephone company in several cities in Minnesota and Iowa and retired to Milaca, Minnesota. On November 23 1984, Dale married Cindy Eisen in Golden Valley, Minnesota. After his retirement, Dale pursued his lifelong dream of farming, purchasing a farm near Milaca. Cindy died on August 26, 2006. Dale continued to live and farm near Milaca until moving to Blooming Prairie in 2010 to be closer to his family. He was a fan of the Minnesota Vikings, car racing, especially sprint cars and loved reading with his morning coffee.
Dale is survived by two sons, Brian Madsen of Blooming Prairie and Mike (Kathy) Madsen of Hollandale; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one more due in August; two sisters, Diane (Paul) Stollard of Geneva and Jeanne Madsen of Centennial, Colorado; father-in-law, Roger Eisen of Milaca; brother-in-law, David Eisen of Princeton and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Cindy; brother, Steve Madsen and sister, Linda Knutson.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 6, 2014, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota with Rev. Charles Leonard officiating. Interment will follow the service in Westfield Lutheran Cemetery, rural Blooming Prairie. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 5th at the Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.
