Group rescued on Rum River

Five people riding on a large inflatable floating device needed to be rescued from the Rum River on Sunday afternoon, June 22.
Milaca Police and Mille Lacs County deputies were called to the south side of the Rum River bridge on Highway 23 at about 2:20 p.m. Sunday, June 22, where two adults and three children were hung up on a tree across the river. Law enforcement officers pulled the five people to safety using a rope. The Milaca Fire Department assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
