Milaca girls golf wraps up conference season

Milaca hosted the final Granite Ridge Conference (GRC) meet of the season on May 20 at Stones Throw Golf Course north of Milaca. The Wolves finished in fifth place, where they have been in the standings all season.

Becker won the tournament by four strokes over St. Cloud Cathedral, which also wrapped up the season title for the Bulldogs as well.

Individually for Milaca senior Olivia Wolbert finished with a team-best 103. Freshman Claire Mettling followed that up with a 104, and Alicia Wolbert shot 105. Haley Hoskins and Elaina Davis each shot 113, and Molly Banks finished with 116 as the Wolves carded a 425 team score.

Ashley Neuwirth of Becker was the medalist for the tournament with an 88. She also finished first for the most points earned on the season as an individual, a half-point ahead of teammate Chyenne Piccolo.

Six golfer were named to the All-Conference squad including: Neuwirth, Piccolo, Lauren Herke (Cathedral), Ann Berdan (Cathedral), Anna Faerber (Cathedral) and Lauren Anderson (Albany).

Wolbert was named as an Honorable Mention in the GRC after finishing 14th in the conference with 8.5 points.
