Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent C. Lindgren, beginning his 27th year at the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office, announced that he will continue the original promise he made in 2002 when he was first elected sheriff of Mille Lacs County, which was to continue as Mille Lacs County Sheriff for many years to come. Lindgren was elected sheriff in 2002 and then re-elected Mille Lacs County Sheriff in 2006 and again in 2010. Lindgren is now seeking re-election to another term in office.
“I have the vision, experience, and energy it takes to be sheriff in 2014 and for years to come,” Lindgren said in his announcement.
Lindgren states that being sheriff is about setting and achieving goals and objectives. Since 2002, Lindgren has been a sheriff of action, he said, setting and achieving many goals and objectives: standardizing structured training of deputies, creating civil process, court security and transport divisions in the office, creating the Violent Offender Apprehension Unit in the sheriff’s office, establishing a chaplaincy program, implementing the countywide Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER), which is the 800 MHZ emergency radio communications for emergency response personnel: police, fire and ambulance.
Lindgren expanded the county jail whereby Mille Lacs County has collected over $4.5 million dollars in revenue from boarding other counties’ inmates since 2003. Lindgren has also created a medical clinic in the county jail that has reduced medical costs and community transportation risks.
Lindgren has served as president of the Minnesota Sheriffs Association as well as the chairman of the Minnesota Sheriffs Association Strategic Planning Committee, which helps all other Minnesota sheriffs through goal setting and future visioning for their offices. Lindgren also currently serves on a financial crimes advisory board task force to the Commissioner of Public Safety, providing advice to the commissioner related to the investigation and prosecution of identity theft and financial crime in Minnesota.
