Criminal complaints against the following individuals have been filed in Mille Lacs County District Court. They were compiled by Jeff Hage.
Olson charged with sex offenses
A 19-year-old Milaca man has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct for his role in multiple incidents involving a 16-year-old female.
Christofer M. Olson, 215 Seventh St. NE, Milaca, could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison for each of two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and 15 years in prison for each of two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
According to a criminal complaint, Olson allegedly engaged in multiple sexual contacts with the female between Aug. 1, 2013 and April 9, 2014. He allegedly did so against the female’s will. On April 9, he allegedly engaged in sexual penetration with the female.
Olson appeared in court May 11. He was granted a public defender and released from jail on $125,000 bail. A domestic assault no contact order was put in place, prohibiting Olson to have contact with the victim. Under conditions of his release, he cannot have contact with anyone under age 18.
He is scheduled to return to court May 1 for an omnibus hearing.
Wind accused of felony assault
A 25-year-old Onamia man is facing up to five years in prison after being charged with felony domestic assault.
Duane Lee Wind allegedly threatened to inflict bodily harm upon a woman who is pregnant with their child. According to a criminal complaint filed in Mille Lacs County District Court, he was allegedly upset because people accused him of being with other men.
Wind went to the woman’s home. He was allegedly yelling and screaming. He threw and broke a cellphone when the woman made a call for help. She told authorities she felt threatened and feared for her safety because she had allegedly been assaulted by Wind in the past. Wind has prior convictions for domestic assault in 2007, interference with a 911 call and domestic assault in 2010, third-degree assault in 2010 and domestic assault in 2010.
Drug charges filed against Casino patron
A Brainerd man is facing felony drug charges after being found in possession of methamphetamine at Grand Casino Mille Lacs.
Wade A. Simpson, 39, Brainerd, was arrested on Sunday, April 20, after a controlled substance had been found in the High Stakes VIP area of the casino.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Mille Lacs County District Court, a casino employee observed a small plastic baggy on the floor of the casino. The baggy contained a white-rock type substance, later identified as meth. Surveillance footage showed the bag falling out of Simpson’s pants pocket.
The meth weighed in at 1.04 grams.
