Two injured in Friday crash

Two Milaca-area women were injured in a two-vehicle crash at about noon, Friday, April 11 on Highway 23 at 125th Avenue, also known as County Road 5.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol: A 2004 Jeep Liberty driven by Jody L. Alderink, 50 of Milaca, pulled out from the Koch’s Hardware lot, southbound onto Highway 23. A 2006 Dodge Caravan, driven by Janet Cassidy of Foreston, was eastbound on Highway 23 traveling towards Milaca and hit the Alderink vehicle broadside on the passenger side of the vehicle when it pulled out onto the highway.

Both drivers were transported to Fairview Northland  Medical Center where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Both the Alderink and Cassidy vehicles sustained severe damage and were towed from the scene by Johnson’s Towing.

The Milaca Police Department and Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Department assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
