Sick animals in Milaca now have a new face to look forward to the next time they take a visit to the veterinarian’s office.
Molly Winter is the newest addition to the veterinary staff at the Mille Lacs Veterinary Clinic and has been assisting the current veterinarian, Sarah Jacobsen, with the care of small animals. She is especially interested in internal medicine and nutrition, as well.
Winter has been working with the clinic since November of last year and said she really likes working with the clinic and that she is excited to be here.
Winter is from Delano. She received her undergraduate degree from Gustavus Adolphus University and her veterinary degree from the University of Minnesota.
After receiving her veterinary degree, she took a job in East Grand Forks. However, after two and a half years, Winter and her husband wanted a change. Desiring to live in a small town closer to family, Winter and her husband decided to move to Milaca.
Winter said that she liked the Mille Lacs Veterinary Clinic’s practice and the fact that she gets to work with a variety of people and animals every day, describing that she liked the spectrum of working with regular house pets to farm dogs who spend most of their time outdoors.
“Every day is kind of an adventure,” Winter said.
Typically, Winter starts every other day with surgeries. The rest of her day is filled with appointments and a variety of things, but sometimes emergency surgeries need to be done during the day as well. Winter stressed that the work is never boring.
As for the future, Winter said she is looking forward to life in Milaca, specifically celebrations and checking out the hiking and biking trails. She and her husband are also looking forward to starting a garden as well as seeing her neighbors out and about.
