A cold shooting night proved costly as Milaca lost to St. Cloud Cathedral 46-32 in a Granite Ridge Conference girls basketball game Friday at Cathedral.
The Wolves made just 14 of 63 shots from the field and just two of 13 free-throw attempts.
“Our offense went stagnant and we could not hit our shots,” said coach Dave Leom. “We had many shots that popped back out and we lost our confidence as the game went along.
“Not playing for over two weeks showed in our play.”
Sophomore center Molly Banks and senior guard Sarah Forker each scored seven points while junior guard Makayla Paggen had five points and junior guard Courtney Beaver and sophomore forward Megan Dahlstrom each had four points. Junior guard Alex Ploeger had nine rebounds, Paggen had eight and Banks grabbed seven.
Milaca is 1-2 in GRC play and 5-2 overall. The Wolves’ game at Albany tonight (Thursday) was postponed because of poor driving conditions. Milaca hosts Sauk Rapids-Rice Monday, Jan. 20, and Foley Tuesday, Jan. 21. Those games are at 7:30 p.m.
