Elsie Karsjens

Elsie Ann Karsjens, age 78 of Hillman, died Wednesday, December 25, 2013 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Elsie Karsjens was born April 10, 1935 in Cloquet, to James and Grace (Matrious) Wind. She married Edward Karsjens on November 1, 1952. Elsie had worked at the Mille Lacs Casino as a slot machine attendant from 1990-1998. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to garage sales. She was enrolled in the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe.
She is survived by her husband, Edward, Hillman; sons and daughters Don Houle, Lake Lena; Mary (Robert) Meyer, Lino Lakes; Linda Moxness, Forest Lake; Leslie, Hillman; Shirley (Roy) Hillstrom, St. Paul; Kevin, Mankato; Tami Johnson, Milaca and Susan (Ted) Rohloff of Pierz, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters Lucille Kuntz, Onamia; Vivian Bruce, Onamia, Alvina Aubele, Lake Lena; Carol Higgins, Sandstone; David Matrious, Lake Lena and Gordon Matrious of Askov.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ronald Karsjens, grandsons Joey Karsjens and Steven Karsjens, brother Robert Matrious and son-in-law Jack Moxness.
Memorial Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at the Foley Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Allen Jergenson will officiate. Burial will be in the Lone Pine Cemetery at a later date.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the Foley Funeral Home.
