Milaca wrestlers top Chisago Lakes

Milaca topped Chisago Lakes 39-23 in a non-conference wrestling dual Thursday night (Dec. 12) at Milaca.

The Wolves won eight of the 14 matches and were led by pins from eighth-grader Jon Hall at 106 pounds, senior Ray Hoffman at 120, junior Austin Weidner at 195 and senior Brandon Merten at heavyweight.

Junior Jack Barsody scored a technical fall at 152 and junior Colton Sailor won a decision at 220. Junior Jack Gutlovics won a decision at 145 and senior Jorgen Erickson scored a decision at 170.

Ninth-grader Teddy Pierce notched a pin for the Wildcats while junior Dylan Connell scored a technical fall at 126. Chisago Lakes is ranked No. 5 in the Guillotine magazine’s Class AA ratings.

Milaca boosted its dual record to 5-1. The Wolves are at the Delano Invitational Saturday (Dec. 14). The first round is at 11:30 a.m., with the finals at 3 p.m.

WOLVES SPORTS:

-The Mora-Milaca-Hinckley-Finlayson boys hocked team lost to Becker-Big Lake 4-3 in a Two Rivers Conference game Thursday night (Dec. 12) at the Mora Civic Center.

-Milaca’s boys basketball hosts Zimmerman tonight in a Granite Ridge Conference game at 7:30. The Wolves are 2-2 after losing at Becker 75-54 Tuesday night (Dec. 10).

-Milaca’s girls basketball team moved to 3-0 by defeating Kimball 45-22 in a non-conference game Tuesday night (Dec. 10) at Milaca. The Wolves host Becker Tuesday (Dec. 17) at 7:30.
