Cheryl Kovarik

Cheryl Lynn Kovarik (Schafbuch), age 51 of Milaca, was granted her angel wings on Oct. 10, 2013 after a courageous battle with Myelodysplasia. She left this earth peacefully in her home surrounded by her children.
Cheryl was born Dec. 9, 1961 to Edward and Shirley Schafbuch in Robbinsdale. She grew up in Crystal until the age of 8, and then moved to Champlin. She married James Kovarik on Jan. 12, 1980, which ended in divorce in 2001. James Kovarik had two daughters that Cheryl helped raise and they together had five more children. They lived in the Anoka area until 1991 and then moved to Milaca where they raised their children. Cheryl became a grandma in 1995 and she became known as Grammie. She loved her grandchildren and was blessed with 13.
Cheryl was a childcare provider for several years, she worked at Olsons Super Valu, and she also did PCA work. Cheryl enjoyed agate hunting, gardening, crafts, caring for animals, shopping, and spending time with her grandbabies. Cheryl was a kind and caring woman, she always put other peoples needs and wants before her own.
She survived by her children JaNane (Kyle), Mandee, Jeri, Jeni (Andrew), James, Jordan (Jenna), and Jeff (Alicia); her grandbabies Odin, Drew, Starlynne, Hanna, Jeffrey, Azlynn, Morgandy, Pamela, Sara, Chase and Lilli; sisters Cindy, Shannon and Staci; special brother-in-law Gary, three nieces and five nephews and many other special friends and loved ones.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Tyler, granddaughter Madalyn, parents Edward and Shirley Schafbuch and brothers Bill and Jeff.
Services were held Oct. 15, 2013 at the LDS Church in Anoka. She was laid to rest at Champlin Cemetery.
