Gerald Frank Johnson, age 78, of South Haven, formerly of Milaca, passed away peacefully September 22, 2013.
Jerry was born May 12, 1935 in Milaca to Swedish immigrants, Frank and Tillie (Anderson) Johnson. Jerry was very proud of his Swedish heritage. He was a 1953 graduate of Milaca High School.
He married Eunice Sundvall in 1954 and together they had three children.
Jerry was an owner and partner of an auto service station in South Minneapolis. He later attended Thermal King Technical School for air conditioning and refrigeration. From 1969 to 2002, Jerry worked at the State of Minnesota Department of Public Safety as an examiner and supervisor of licenses. He married Cheryl Klein in 1987. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman and later in life he became a nature watcher.
He is survived by wife Cheryl; daughter Nancy Johnson; son Brad (Kathy) Johnson; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister Doris Johnson; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by son Curtis and eight siblings.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Sept. 27 at Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home in Milaca with Rev. Tim Bauer officiating.
Interment followed at Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.
Casketbearers were Jacob Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Jennifer Schmidt, Darci Haneca and Eric Johnson.
