The city of Milaca may have some interest in a 40-acre parcel adjacent to the east side of the city’s airport.
Councilman Ken Muller, also a member of the airport commission, reported to City Council members at the June 13 meeting that the owner of the 40 acres had contacted him to ask if the city was interested in purchasing the acreage.
The site would be ideal for a future location of hangars, Muller told council members. The council had a brief discussion about the proposal, and it was the consensus to have Muller and City Manager Greg Lerud contact with the property owner and the state regarding the property.
Lerud said last week he sent an email to an engineer with the Minnesota Department of Aeronautics, asking about the possibility of the state participating in an 80/20 split for funding, the city being responsible for the 20 percent.
A report will be made to the council at a future meeting, Lerud said.
