Milaca’s girls track and field team put on a spectacular performance and captured the Section 5A championship Wednesday, May 29, at St. John’s University in Collegeville.
The Wolves scored 66 points to edge Litchfield, which had 65 points.
Senior Kaija Crowe won the 100-meter dash, the 200 dash and the high jump. She teamed with junior Sarah Forker and sophomores Allie Terpstra and Irina Danilyuk to win the 4×200-meter relay.
Terpstra placed second in the 100 hurdles and long jump while Forker placed fourth in the pole vault and sophomore Tara Airhart placed sixth in the pole vault.
Senior Kylie Muehring placed eighth in the shot put and score one point, a point that provided the Wolves with the margin they needed to win the title.
The Wolves will be competing in seven events at the Class A State Meet which is Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8, at Hamline University in St. Paul.
