Richard Lanklyn Vork

Richard Lanklyn Vork, age 80, of Northfield, MN passed away on Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013 at Reflections Care Suites. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, April 3, at 11:30 a.m. at Northfield United Methodist Church. Visitation will be on Tuesday, April 2, 4-8 p.m.
Richard Lanklyn Vork, the son of Everett and Thelma Vork was born on September 22, 1932 in Sandstone, MN. He graduated from Sandstone High School. He served in the army at the end of the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. Following his discharge, he graduated from Northland College in Ashland, WI with a B.S. in English in 1961. He graduated from University of Dubuque Seminary in June 1965, and was ordained an Elder. He served United Methodist congregations in Palisade, MN, 1957-58; West Wisconsin Washburn-Grandview 1958-1961; Belmont-Whig 1961-1964; MN Nerstrand-Kenyon 1964-1966; Milaca-Zimmerman 1966-1970; Nashwauk-Marble-Pengilly 1970-1980; Marshall Albright-Lynd 1980-1989; Waseca Faith 1989-1998. He retired in 1998, but continued to enjoy providing pulpit supply to area congregations, and served two interim pastorates. Throughout his ministry he enjoyed driving bus for church youth groups.
Richard was united in marriage to Judith Craw on December 28, 1957. To this marriage were born Diane Adele, October 26, 1959 and Linda Marie, September 10, 1961. Judith Craw died in childbirth with infant Mary, July 28, 1965.
Richard was united in marriage to Faye Marie Wolf on August 5, 1966. They enjoyed more than 46 happy years of marriage together. Richard was a loving husband and father, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Richard, Faye, Diane and Linda enjoyed annual family trips throughout the United States and Europe. Richard enjoyed fishing, woodworking, family picnics, and model trains.
He was a member of the Northfield Masonic Lodge, Sons of the American Revolution, Order of the Eastern Star, and was involved with Rice County Habitat for Humanity. He was also active in Lions Club and Shrine Club in Waseca.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Faye Marie Vork and daughters Diane (Bob) Enger of Rochester, MN and Linda (Craig) Bollenbach of Nixa, MO; two grandchildren, Jonathon (Anika) Enger of Chicago, IL and Kari (Joshua) Kaus of Rochester, MN; brother David (Joanne) Vork of Princeton; sister Faye Nelson of Hinckley; mother-in-law Opal Wolf of Nerstrand; brother-in-law Paul (Susan) Wolf of Northfield; sister-in-law Lois (Rolf) Enger of Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Judith, and infant daughter Mary.
