Nearly 400 men and boys attended the Evangelical Free Church’s Men’s Wild Game Dinner last Saturday at the church.

Almost 400 men and boys attended the 12th annual Men and Boys Wild Game Potluck this past Saturday, March 2 at the Milaca Evangelical Free Church, according to event organizer and pastor Mike Johnson.

As well as enjoying a feast of wild game and fish, participants also watched footage of Andy Kaminski’s successful black bear hunt captured by Rugged Cross Outdoors. As the guest speaker, Kaminski shared his love for hunting and faith with the audience.

Almost half of those who attended went home with one of the 170 prizes that were awarded throughout the day. Jack Berg, of Milaca, won a Fish Trap, a one-person portable fish house, donated by the Clam Corporation. Kris Denning, of Zimmerman, took home the antler scoring prize for the whitetail he brought to be measured.

Although unusual game such as porcupine has been served at this event in the past, Johnson said the most uncommon dishes served this year included turtle, antelope, elk and wild pig.

“I’m usually so busy,” Johsnon said. “I only get to sample a few things.”
