Faith Christian School’s boys basketball team split a pair of games last week as it defeated Hope Christian of Inver Grove Heights 60-41 Tuesday, Feb. 19, before losing to Fon du Lac of Cloquet 85-58 Friday.
Both games were on the Saints’ home court.
Senior guard Paul Selin scored 21 points, senior forward Micah Andrews had 18 and senior center Cullen Curott had 14 as Faith Christian used a balanced attack to trim Hope Christian.
Andrews, who was 9-for-13 from the field, also had 11 rebounds and four assists while Selin had eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots and Curott grabbed 14 rebounds.
Faith Christian led 33-19 at halftime.
“This was a big game for both teams as far as the seeding for the Christian Athletic League Tournament,” said FCS Coach Don Andrews.
Hope forward Brian Heintz, the CAL’s leading scorer, totaled 30 points.
On Friday, FCS trailed Fon du Lac 32-26 at the half before being outscored 53-32 in the second half.
Selin scored 29 points and had a career-high 16 rebounds while Andrews had 19 points, 12 rebounds, three blocked shots and four assists.
“The telling statistic was our 39 turnovers,” said coach Andrews. “Other than that we played one of our better games of the year against a good team.”
FCS, 4-18, closes the regular season Friday at Valley Christian in St. Croix Falls, Wis.
The CAL Tournament is March 7-9 in Mankato.
