A one-vehicle crash occurred Tuesday morning on County Road 4 just north of the intersection with County Road 13/60th Street. The vehicle, traveling southbound hit an icy patch, entered the ditch, flipped onto its roof and struck a utility pole. The two teenage occupants were waiting in another vehicle when these photos were taken. No one appeared to be seriously injured.
High winds and frigid temperatures created large swaths of blowing snow and ice over most of County Road 4 Monday night and Tuesday morning, creating slick traveling conditions. It is unknown how fast the vehicle was traveling. The driver’s side door appeared to have been forced open, allowing the occupants to exit. The passenger’s side door was crushed against the telephone pole. Both the driver and the passenger complained of minor aches and pains and were transported to the hospital by their mother, according to Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren.
