Milaca wrestlers top Mora

Milaca won 11 of 14 matches and scored five pins as it trimmed Mora 53-12 in a Granite Ridge Conference wrestling dual Thursday night, Dec. 6, at Mora.

The victory boosted the Wolves’ overall record to 5-0 and their GRC mark to 1-0.

Junior Ray Hoffman at 113 pounds, sophomore Aaron Moscho at 152, sophomore Josh Otten at 170, sophomore Austin Weidner at 182 and junior Brandon Merten at heavyweight had pins.

Milaca also received wins from sophomore Hunter Noor at 120, senior Mike Hoffman at 126, senior Joey Curtis at 132, ninth-grader Dru Kuchenbaker at 138, senior Jonah Gahm at 145 and sophomore Jake Merten at 195.

The Wolves will host their invitational Saturday, Dec. 8, with the first round at 9 a.m.

Nashwauk-Keewatin dropped out of the tournament this week and as a result fans should note a change in the schedule.

Milaca had been schedule to receive a bye in the first round but will now face Holdingford at 9. The other match at 9 has Aitkin meeting Elk River.

The second round at 10:30 will have Milaca facing Elk River and Holdingford meeting Aitkin.

In the final round at noon, Milaca meets Aitkin and Holdingford faces Elk River.
