Bell ringers wanted

The seasonal sounds of ringing are greeting customers at local stores once again this holiday.

Salvation Army bell ringer Peggy Bellinder answered a last-minute call to fill in for another volunteer Saturday afternoon at Teal’s Market in Milaca. Bellinder mixed it up with a bell in each hand, ringing a catchy tune to pass the time and bring smiles to the faces of generous passersby as they dropped their bills in the iconic red kettle.

Mille Lacs County Salvation Army coordinator Linda Ramson said the local branch has collected more than $1,000 so far, but more volunteers are needed to operate the bells.

Those interested in donating their time should call Ramson at 320-982-1404 or 320-982-3773.

If local residents haven’t seen the bell ringers at the grocery store or at Unclaimed Freight, where they set up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. every Saturday, they are encouraged to send their donations to the local chapter at P.O. Box 374, Milaca, MN 56353.
