A memorial service for Arlene B. Droogsma, 77, of Milaca was Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at the Pease Christian Reformed Church in Pease, Minn. with the Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating. Music was provided by organist Dorothy Brink and soloist Lois
Droogsma. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Droogsma, Melvin Droogsma, Stan Droogsma and Lyle Droogsma. Burial was at the Christian Reformed Church Cemetery in Pease. Memorials are preferred to the Alexandra House.
Arlene died Nov. 6 at the Elim Care Center in Milaca.
She was born May 5, 1935 in rural Milaca to John and Minnie Droogsma. Arlene graduated from the Pease Christian School and Milaca High School.
She was married for the period of 1966 to 2008. The majority of her life she worked in several nursing homes in the Twin Cities where she kindly waited on residents including dispensing medicines. She received honors and financial gifts for her exemplary work.
Arlene spent the last two years at the Elim Care Center where she received excellent care. While there, with her gift of friendship she shared the gospel and encouraged many residents and staff members who will miss her. Arlene was a member of the Christian Reformed Church of Pease.
She is survived by her siblings, Violet Rens of Milaca, Lavonne Hubers of Cincinnati, Ohio, Don (Carol) Droogsma of Milaca, Melvin (Betty) Droogsma of Milaca, Stan (Eleanor) Droogsma of Maple Grove, Minn. and Lyle Droogsma of Baudette, Minn.; sister-in-law Garda Droogsma of Cambridge, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents John and Minnie Droogsma; and her brother Del.
