Milaca’s girls placed third in a close race for team honors at the Albany Cross County Invitational Tuesday, Oct. 9.
The host Huskies won the 11-team meet with a score of 56 while Rocori placed second at 67 and the Wolves were third with 82 points. Mora placed fourth at 113 and Becker was fifth at 130.
Senior Julia Putz led Milaca as she placed 11th with a time of 16:45.49 over 4,000 meters while sophomore Alex Ploeger was 12th in 16:54.41 and senior Kaija Crowe was 14th in 16:58.56. Sophomore Irina Danilyuk was 21st in 17:18.69, seventh-grader Allison Mathison was 24th in 17:24.64, ninth-grader Lizzy Fordyce was 32nd in 17:34.83 and seventh-grader Abigale Mathison was 51st in 19:37.52.
Junior McKenzie Holt of St. Cloud Christian School continued her banner season by placing first in 14:39.20. Junior Bethany Coop of Mora placed second in 15:14.51 and junior Kristin Mehr of Rocori was third in 15:42.99.
Milaca’s boys finished seventh with a score of 187, Rocori won the boys division with 43 points while Albany was second at 51 and Mora finished third with 71 points.
Senior Cameron Sundberg paced the Wolves as he finished ninth in 17:58.66 over 5,000 meters. Sophomore Jacob Riebel was 30th in 19:14.76, sophomore Bennett Lerud was 44th in 29:02.13, sophomore Dray Thomas-Ferry placed 46th in 20:15.12, ninth-grader Dan Strohmayer was 58th in 21:19.32 and ninth-grader Rex Peterson was 59th in 21:44.80.
The Wolves competed at the Granite Ridge Conference Meet Tuesday at Princeton.
