Funeral services for Larry Kiel, 61, of Breezy Point, Minn. will be Friday, Sept. 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes, Minn. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Brenny
Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes. Burial will be at Pelican Woods Cemetery.
Larry died Sept. 9 peacefully and unexpectedly at his home.
He was born April 18, 1951 in Milaca to Laurence and Lillian Kiel.
He married the love of his life, Denise Patnode, on Sept. 11, 1970. The couple moved to the Breezy Point area in 1973, where Larry owned and operated a plumbing business for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a writer, but most of all Larry loved being surrounded by all of his “girls.”
He is survived by his wife Denise; daughters, Sarah (Derek) Schladweiler of Otsego, Leah (Lisa Peters) of Winnipeg, Canada, and Amber (Brandon) Peterson of Crosslake; beautiful granddaughters, Alexis, Avery and Ashlyn; father Laurence Kiel of Milaca; sister Linda (Rhonda King) Kiel of Kentwood, Mich.; and brothers, Tim (Jeanne) Kiel of St. Cloud and Tom (Kris) Kiel of Milaca; stepbrothers, Andy (Carol) VanSomeren of Milaca and Ron (Linda) VanSomeren of Las Vegas, Nev.; and stepsister Dotty VanSomeren of Warroad, Minn.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother Lillian; brother Harlen; stepmother Donna; and stepbrother Don VanSomeren.
Arrangements are by the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes, Minn.
