Funeral Services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 10, 2012 at Becker United Methodist Church in Becker for Bruce Nichols Halstead, age 72, who died on September 3, 2012 from heart and kidney failure at the St. Cloud Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Rev. James Beard will officiate and burial will be at the New Oregon Cemetery, Cresco, IA. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday, September 10,
2012 at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home in Becker.
Bruce Nichols Halstead was born in Rochester, MN to Winifred and Reginald Halstead on August 22, 1940. He married Judy Maurer on June 20, 1959 at the Calvary Episcopal Church in Rochester. They had four children. Bruce worked for the Milaca school system for 21 years as a custodian/boiler engineer before retiring in 1995. He also owned and operated Camper Care and Repair ten miles north of Milaca. He loved woodworking and was always able to fix anything. Bruce dealt with 35 years of heart related issues. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all of us.
He is survived by his wife, Judy of Big Lake; son Tim and wife Bonnie Halstead of St. Paul, son Nick and wife Sharilyn Halstead of Oak Grove, daughter Leicia and husband Jerry Altman of Parkers Prairie, and son Greg and wife Stephanie Halstead of Milaca; grandchildren, Kirsten, Kelsey, Cole, Jennifer, Vanessa, Allyson, Zachary, Jamie and Juliann; brother Scott and wife Nancy Halstead of Shoreview; brother-in-law Gary and wife Sue Maurer of Milaca; and close cousin Ron Nass of Winter Haven, FL. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law; and many aunts and uncles.
