A Princeton man died after his vehicle left the road last week.
Emergency personnel responded to a call of a single vehicle crash in the area of 3976 Brickton Road in Princeton Township Wednesday, Aug. 29.
The caller reported a single car crash on a corner north of the road.
Mille Lacs County deputies and investigators responded to the scene as well as the Princeton Police, Princeton Fire and North Ambulance. Emergency workers found the driver, identified as Richard Modeen, 86. Rescue efforts were unsuccessful and Mr. Modeen died at the scene of the crash. According the Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren, Modeen appeared to be the only person involved in the crash.
Preliminary investigation into the crash indicates that Modeen was driving on Brickton Road when he drove off a corner in the roadway, striking a large tree with his car. The accident is still under investigation by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office and the Anoka County Medical Examiner. Autopsy results are still pending at this time.
“I would like to extend the heartfelt condolences of the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Office to the family and friends of Richard Modeen,” Lindgren said.
