The Milaca School Board approved the hiring of Clay Hoeck and Mitch Vedders as co-head wrestling coaches at its meeting Tuesday night.
Hoeck and Vedders will take over for longtime coach Randy Zimmer, who resigned at the end of this past season.
Both Hoeck and Vedders, 2004 Milaca graduates, wrestled for Zimmer. Hoeck ranks first on Milaca’s career wins list with 206 while Vedders is tied for second with his brother Steven at 186.
Both Hoeck and Vedders have been assistants under Zimmer.
“We’re very pleased to have Clay and Mitch on board,” said athletic director Jerry Westphal. “They will make a great team.”
“I’m so happy that the program will be in good hands,” said Zimmer. “Clay and Mitch know what maintaining a solid program is all about.”
