Sherman Woodworth

Sherman George Woodworth was born on February 1, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN, son of George and Minnie (Leisson) Woodworth.  He grew up in south Minneapolis and received his education there.  He was united in marriage with Janet Magel on June 23, 1956 at the Little Brown Church, near Nashua, Iowa.  They made their home in north Minneapolis and Sherman began working with the City of Minneapolis road paving crew, transferring to the City of Minneapolis Department of Education where he worked until retiring in 1978.  In 1977, they moved to Oak Park, MN, where they had a small farm and raised vegetables and flowers to sell at the farmers markets in St. Cloud, Princeton and Hopkins, occasionally venturing to the farmers markets in Little Falls or Duluth with an early crop of sweet corn.  In the early 1990’s, they moved into Milaca and on July 6, 1996, his wife, Janet died.  Sherman worked for a few years at the rest area just south of Garrison.  He moved into the high rise in Milaca three years ago.

Sherman enjoyed deer hunting and fishing in his younger years and outdoor activities including camping and trail hiking in later years.  His sons remember his large gardens, even when they lived in north Minneapolis, before moving to the farm.

He is survived by: two sons: Kenneth Woodworth of Milaca and Stephen Woodworth (Paul Froeschl) of St. Paul; five grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Minnie; his wife: Janet; and a son: David.

Visitation: One hour before services at the funeral home.

Service: 11 AM, Tuesday, April 24th at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton, MN.

Burial: Milo Cemetery, rural Milaca.
