Jeanne Marie Scofield, 86, Hastings (formerly Princeton) died Wednesday, April 4th, 2012 at the Regina Medical Center in Hastings, MN.

Jeanne Marie Wallace was born on September 16, 1925 in St. Cloud, daughter of Lloyd and Ethel (Snow) Wallace.  She grew up and was educated at Princeton, graduating from Princeton High School in 1943.  She worked for the street car company in Minneapolis for a short time.  She was united in marriage with Vernon Scofield on June 2, 1944 in St. Paul, MN.  While he finished serving in the military, she stayed with relatives until he returned home and they moved to Princeton.  She began working as a bookkeeper with Fingerhut in Princeton in the early 1960’s and worked there over twenty years.  She had also worked for Marvin George for a time.  She and Vernon moved to Red Wing, MN and then to Austin, Texas, where they managed Self Storage Units for two years, before returning to Red Wing, where she worked in the candy store at Red Wing Pottery.  Following retirement, she and Vernon returned to Princeton.  They spent some time in the nursing homes in Princeton and Milaca, before Vernon’s death on February 14, 2004.  Jeanne then moved to the Regina Nursing Home in Hastings.

Jeanne enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, reading and doing crossword puzzles.  She also loved her cats.

She is survived by her children: Carol Orton of Austin, TX, Michael (Lois) Scofield of Ogilvie, Jan (Mike) Lange of Hastings, and Alan (Sharon) Scofield of Red Wing; in-laws: Carol Diane Scofield of Maple Grove and Paul Blank of Princeton; twenty three grandchildren; thirty eight great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; siblings: Mary Ellen Wuollet of Brooklyn Park, Clifford Wallace of Huntley, IL, Jerry Wallace of Aztec, NM, Judy Buisman of Princeton, Leland Wallace of St. Cloud, Gayle DeBoom of Lakewood, WA, and Robin Wallace of Princeton.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Lloyd and Ethel Wallace; her husband: Vernon Scofield; siblings: Lorraine “Pat” James, Glenn Wallace, Marvin Lloyd Wallace and infant twin boys; children: Vickie Lee Scofield, Marvin Lloyd Scofield and Steven Russell Scofield; grandchildren: Rebecca Lynn Harrison & Tammy Orton; grandson-in-law: Brian Jacobson; great-grandchild: Royce Lynn Scofield.

The Funeral was held on Saturday, April 7th at the Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Princeton.   Burial: Oak Knoll Cemetery, Princeton, Minnesota.
