Sandra Jeanne Smith

Sandra Jeanne Smith (Hoyt) of Milaca, MN, formally from St. Peter and Mankato passed away on March 4, 2012 after a short illness surrounded by family and friends.  Sandra was born April 4, 1944 in Ames, Iowa to Richard and Marnie Hoyt.

Sandra was employed as a financial Worker for 29 years – Nicollet County for 19 years (1979 – 1998)  and Benton County for 10 years (1998 – 2008).  On November 29, 1985 Sandra married the Love of Her Life Mike.  She enjoyed camping, traveling to the North Shore of Lake Superior and the Gunflint Trail where after 25 years she saw her very first moose in the wild.

Sandra is survived by husband Michael Lee Smith of Milaca, daughters: Heather (Anthony) Ziegler and Sarah (Thomas) Keck all of Lake Crystal, seven grandchildren: Kassi-jo, Jordan, Lindsey, Haley, Mariah, Natashlyn Ziegler, Dylan Keck, one great granddaughter Gracelyn Ziegler all of Lake Crystal, mother Marnie Hoyt of Mankato, brother’s Steven Hoyt of California, Brian (Suzette)Hoyt of Kansas, and Dennis (Deb) Hoyt of Iowa, sister-in-law Patsy (Roger Cole) Hoyt, Farmington, MN., mother-in-law Doreen Smith of St. Peter, MN, sister-in-law Tammara Smith of Eagan, MN, brother-in-law Paul Smith of Mahtowa, MN, sister-in-law Alura Smith of Eagan, MN,  Aunt Franny Reed of Burlington, IA, many nieces and nephews and special friends Krystyna Szelazek of Mankato, MN and Marlene Dennis of St Cloud, MN.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father Richard Hoyt, father-in-law George (Bud) Smith, Brother Michael (Mick) Hoyt, Granddaughter Izabella, Great grandson Colttin, Grandpa and Grandma Hoyt, Grandpa and Grandma Shockley.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter with Rev. Eric Natwick officiating. Private family burial will be at Cleveland Lutheran Cemetery, Cleveland. Visitation will be from 4- 7 pm on Thursday at St. Peter Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church Friday.
