Donald Iver Erickson, 62, Princeton, died Friday, February 24th, 2012 at the
VA Medical Center, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Don was born on September 8, 1949 in Milaca, son of Iver and Sylvia (Wallskog) Erickson. The family moved to Minneapolis, Coon Rapids, before moving to Anoka, where they settled. Don graduated from Coon Rapids High School in 1967. He served in the US Navy for four years and was stationed in San Diego and Japan. He got married after returning from his time of service and settled in Coon Rapids. He attended Anoka Vocational Technical School on the GI Bill and worked as an electrician with Local 292 until the time of his death. The family moved to Ramsey in 1984 and in 1987, Don moved to Princeton. He purchased his current property with 66 acres twenty years ago and raised Chesapeake’s there. He loved to walk his property and enjoyed spending time with his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed reading, especially his Bible.
Don is survived by his four sons: Matt of Ramsey, Wade (Sarah) of Ramsey, Derek of Blaine and Durand of Minneapolis; two grandchildren: Isabelle and Tristan; two sisters: Connie Dunyan of Fairfax, VA and Karen (George) Carlson of Braham; and Karen’s daughter: Dana and son: Cory.
Don was preceded in death by his father: Iver Erickson; his mother and stepfather: Sylvia and Carl Bengtsson; and his brother: Ronald Erickson.
Visitation: 10-11 AM, Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at the church.
Funeral: 11 AM, Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at New Life Church, Princeton.
Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
