A Minnesota Supreme Court judicial panel has released the U.S. House redistricting map, which makes minor changes to the current district lines.
The 8th Congressional District remains nearly unchanged from the 2000 redistricting lines, ensuring Rep. Chip Cravaack (R) will remain a top Democratic target for 2012. Minnesota
Rep. Michele Bachmann’s (R) 6th District is smaller because of population growth. But she told the Associated Press after the maps came out that she’ll run in the district encompassing most of her current territory.
Second District Rep. John Kline (R), saw his district become slightly more Democratic, if the 2008 election of President Barack Obama is the signifying factor.
Another district that received little change is Rep. Collin Peterson’s (D) Seventh. Peterson has enjoyed a long tenure in the House with little opposition from Republican candidates.
Rep. Erik Paulsen’s (R) district also becomes a bit friendlier to him, going from a 52 percent Obama district to a 51 percent district.
