A 19-year-old Milaca woman was taken to the St. Cloud Hospital after being struck by a vehicle on Highway 23 near Central Avenue  Sunday evening shortly after 6 p.m.

Harold Linkletter, 46, of Foreston, was westbound on Highway 23 when Brittany Ricker, ran out into the street. According to the State Patrol, Ricker had been dressed entirely in black and was searching for a piece of paper she thought she had dropped when she entered the street, which was not a pedestrian crossing.

The State Patrol indicated that Linkletter had applied the brakes and estimated the speed of the vehicle had been 15 miles per hour by the time it struck the woman.

Ricker was transported by North Memorial Ambulance Service to the hospital for a possible broken leg. The vehicle driven by Linkletter sustained minimal damage.
