Fairview Health Services has given the city of Milaca notice that it plans to exercise an option to purchase Fairview’s clinic building and property in Milaca.
The Milaca Area District Hospital Board entered into a lease agreement with Fairview in 1986 to operate the clinic and make payments on the debt.
There was a clause in the agreement that allows Fairview to purchase the property once the debt for the clinic was paid. That became the case a few years ago.
The hospital board is made up of representatives from the six townships that surround Milaca, as well as the cities of Bock, Foreston and Pease.
Since there will be no property to maintain for the hospital district once the Fairview acquisition is made, the board will be dissolved.
Members of the Milaca City Council passed a resolution at their Jan. 19 meeting to petition the hospital board to consider dissolution.
The hospital board will likely meet in March.
