Milaca residents and those who work in the area may need to work around road construction in the coming year.
The Mille Lacs County five-year roadway plan includes the rehabilitation of Central Avenue (CSAH 36) in Milaca for 2012. The bulk of the work will consist of removing and replacing the concrete pavement replacement between 6th Street South and the Milaca Public Works buildings to the north. Continuing to the north, the uncurbed section of Central Avenue to Highway 169 will be overlaid.
“My primary concern is the impact on the Central Avenue businesses,” said Mille Lacs County Engineer Bruce Cochran. “I’m looking for a way to share the progress and schedule of the project with the community. A phased approach has been worked into the construction plan to minimize disruption of the community.”
The first public meeting will be with the Milaca City Council next week. Cochran said there may be as many as two more public meetings to share information with the community and receive public input.
Those with questions or concerns about this project are encouraged to attend the City Council meeting at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Thursday, Jan. 19 at City Hall.
