Two-alarm fire breaks out at East Side Auto

Six fire trucks from Milaca Fire Department, three from Foreston Fire Department, an ambulance from North Ambulance and Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s Department squad cars responded to East Side Auto just east of Milaca on Highway 23 around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Milaca Fire Chief Greg Weller said the cause of the fire appeared to be the dumping of wood stove ashes near combustible materials. No one was injured, but several vehicles were destroyed and it took crews more than three hours to extinguish the blaze.
