Funeral services for Theodore (Ted) F. Rice, 79, of Middle Cullen Lake were held Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006 at Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa. Burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery in Nisswa.
He died on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at his home.
Ted was born June 24, 1927 in Princeton to Stephen and Minnie (Bartz) Rice. He married Arlene Carlson on Oct. 22, 1949 in Milaca. They farmed east of Milaca for 29 years and then retired to their lake home in 1978.
Ted served on many different boards including Borgholm Telephone Company, Zion Lutheran Church of Milaca, Agriculture Soil and Conservation Service of Mille Lacs County, Mille Lacs County Fair Board and Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.
He was the road supervisor on the Pelican Township Board for 25 years, O'Neil Eagles, 4-H leader and a snowmobile safety instructor. He a member of the Nisswa Lions Club for many years and volunteered many hours at Bethany Good Samaritan in Brainerd and Lakewood Health System in Staples.
His greatest love was his family with which he enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, playing cards, Princeton Speedway and the Minnesota Twins.
Ted is survived by his wife, Arlene, of 57 years; his children, Tim (Lynn) of Staples, Randy (Marlene) of Milaca, Connie (Dale) Peterson of Burtrum and Jere (Sandra) of Maple Grove; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Laverne Trabant of Princeton, Dorothy Anderson of Foley and Beatrice Johnson of Mora.
