Harold Johnson

Funeral services for Harold Herbert Johnson, 83, of Milaca, were held Monday, May 26 at the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Tom Sahlstrom officiating.

Pallbearers were grandchildren. Music was by granddaughter, Kim Shores. Burial was in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Milaca.

Harold died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Elim Home in Milaca.

He was born Oct. 21, 1919 to Carl and Teckla (Danielson) Johnson in Dalbo Township in Isanti County. Harold attended District 66 North Star Country School in Dalbo Township. As a young man he worked on farms in southern Minnesota and later for Bruggeman Construction and on draglines. He married Marian Nelson May 18, 1940 in Milaca. The couple resided in Dalbo Township where they farmed for a few years. Harold drove truck and hauled milk. In 1949 they sold the farm and moved to Milaca where Harold drove truck and for 11 years operated Johnsonıs Cafe. In 1971 Harold started working for Woodcraft in Foreston where he was a mill operator until retirement in 1981. Harold enjoyed woodworking, making jewelry chests for granddaughters and other furniture. He owned his own plane and enjoyed flying and teaching his sons to fly. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Harold is survived by his wife, Marian; sons, Gary and wife Theresa of Atenas, Costa Rica, Ronald and wife Charlotte of Princeton, Carrol and wife Carol of Cambridge, Douglas and wife Lona of Maple Grove; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Magee of Red Wing; and sister-in-law, Margaret Johnson of Milaca.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
