Three graduates receive 4-H Federation Scholarships Each year, the Mille Lacs County 4-H Federation selects current 4-H members, who are just graduating from high school and are pursuing advanced education, to receive a $200 scholarship to help with the cost of advanced schooling. This year, three teens are being honored for their hard work and accomplishments in the Mille Lacs County 4-H Program by being selected as the recipients of a Mille Lacs County 4-H Federation Scholarship. They are Kristin Reiman, Justin Bronson and Lisa Ann Totzke. Kristin Reiman of Princeton has been a Mille Lacs County 4-H member for 12 years in the Greenbush Go-Fors 4-H Club. She is planning to attend the University of Minnesota, St. Paul, majoring in Agriculture Education to become an ag teacher or a county extension educator. Kristin has been extremely active in 4-H at club, county, regional, state and national levels. She has been involved in many projects, especially dairy, but also poultry, beef, horse, swine, sheep, rabbit and youth leadership. She has taken on many leadership roles as club president, federation president and State 4-H Ambassador. She has won many awards for her accomplishments. Kristin has worn the crown of a dairy princess and a Jersey queen. She is also very active in school, student council, sports, choir, drama club, and FFA. And she finds time to be involved in other church and community activities as well. Kristin says, "My 12 years in 4-H have been the best years of my life! I have gained so much from all my involvement in working with people and the community. I feel so lucky to have been able to participate in so many opportunities that represent Mille Lacs County as well as the state of Minnesota." Kristin is the daughter of Margaret and Richard Reiman. Justin Bronson of Princeton has been a Mille Lacs County 4-H member for 12 years in the Greenbush Go-Fors 4-H Club. This fall he plans to study for a career as a physical education teacher and wrestling coach at North Dakota State University. He has been very active in 4-H especially with the swine project, but also beef, shop, photography and youth leadership. Justin says, ³4-H has been a wonderful organization to learn and build skills both in the area of learning, but also working with people in the community." He is very active in sports and has won awards for football and wrestling. This past season he won a section title and advanced to the state tournament. Justin is the son of Sandy and Richard Bronson. Lisa Ann Totzke has been a Mille Lacs County 4-H member for the past 12 years in the Garfield Climbers 4-H Club, and as an independent member. She plans to attend the University of Minnesota, Morris to pursue a career in either biology or chemistry. Lisa has been involved in many projects including dog, creative arts, photography, clothing, foods, needle arts, aerospace, gardening and youth leadership. She has served in several club officer roles and shown good leadership skills. She is involved in church activities, FFA, softball, basketball, marching band and jazz band. Lisa has received awards for her accomplishments in band, county and state fairs and basketball. She enjoys quilting, sewing, flower arranging and bracelet making. Lisa says, ³To me 4-H means responsibility and leadership. I have learned that I need to take charge, get my projects done and not procrastinate. I use that lesson every day of my life.² Lisa is the daughter of Deb Hardy. The Mille Lacs County 4-H Federation has sponsored this scholarship for the past 16 years with funds in part from Federated Co-ops Inc.
