Correctional officers recognized

Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren and the Mille Lacs County Board of Commissioners recognize Correctional Officer¹s Week May 4-10.
The week is designated to honor the professionals who supervise the county¹s inmates.
Lindgren said of the dispatch personnel, ³They are the professionals that are your first line in a crisis situation. Every day they¹re answering hundreds of phone calls, many of which are 911 calls, providing emergency services.
³Those people often times go unrecognized for the life- saving measures that they perform in doing their job functions as dispatchers getting emergency personnel to the scene.²
Lindgren also spoke of the correctional officers who work in the jail.
³They are the unseen protectors of violent people on a daily basis,² he said.
The correctional officers not only provide safety to the community, but also safety to the jail population itself, Lindgren added.
