William ³Bill² Stob, 74, of Graceville, Fla., died Saturday, April 26, 2003 at his residence following an extended illness.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29, at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Kynesville, Fla., with the Rev. Ronnie Wright officating. Burial was in the church cemetery with full military honors. Those wishing may make memorials in his memory to the Graceville Fire Department or Graceville Little League Association.

Mr. Stob, affectionately know as ³Chief², was born in Foreston, Minn., Feb. 6, 1929, moving to Graceville in 1975. He retired in 1974 as a MSGT with the U.S. Air Force, following 26 years of service. He served in the Korean war and two tours in Vietnam. Stob retired in 1995 as fire chief with the City of Graceville, following 20 years of service. He coached Little League for a number of years and attended Graceville Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Rodney Hightower; and three brothers, Cornelius Stob, Albert Stob, John Stob.

He is survived by his wife, Inez Avery Stob of Graceville; two daughters, Glenda S. Jenkins and husband Richard of Cottondale, Fla., and Betty Ruth Stob of Kynesville; brothers, Ted Stob of California and Tunis Stob of Minnesota; sisters, Alice Anderson and Dena Orton of Minnesota; and five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Arrangments were by the James and Lipford Funeral home of Graceville.
