Wolves place first in conference triangular Junior Darrell Nelson and eighth grader Beau Moyer both shot a 43 to lead Milaca to first place in a Rum River Conference boys golf triangular Thursday, April 24, at the Milaca Golf Club. Milaca finished with a team score of 176 while Big Lake was second at 189 and Pine City was third at 194. Junior Jeremie Wallin had a 44 for Milaca while junior Brent Baas shot a 46, senior Tim Veurink had a 47 and senior Sheldon Miller finished at 48. Joe Smock had a 43 for Big Lake. The Wolves placed second in the junior varsity meet. Ninth grader Travis Moyer led Milaca with a 45 while sophomore Shawn Nelson had a 46. Senior Eric Bergstrom finished at 50 and sophomore Mark DeHart shot a 51. On Tuesday, April 22, Milaca placed third in a RRC triangular at Spring Brook Golf Club at Mora. The host Mustangs placed first with a score of 159, followed by North Branch at 179 and Milaca at 186. Junior Phil Samıs 43 led the Wolves while Baas had a 46, Nelson shot a 47 and Miller and Beau Moyer both had a 50. Veurink finished at 53. Mike Yocum, Mike Gunderson and Matt Donner all finished at 40 for Mora. Milaca placed second in the junior varsity meet with a 203 total. Mora was first at 181 and North Branch was third at 205. Wallin had a 47 and Travis Moyer shot a 51 to lead Milaca. DeHart had a 52 and ninth grader Nick Wilken had a 53. On Monday, the Wolves placed second in a RRC triangular at the Fox Hollow Club near St. Michael. Chisago Lakes finished first at 161 while Milaca was second at 176 and St. Michael-Albertville was third at 182. Nelsonıs 40 led the Wolves while Beau Moyer and Sam each had a 45, Veurink shot a 46, Baas finished at 50 and Wallin ended at 51. Jordan Hawkinson of CL paced the triangular with a 38. Milaca placed third in the junior varsity meet. Travis Moyer and Miller both finished at 50, Nelson had a 51, Bergstrom and ninth grader Shane Norman each had a 52 and sophomore Randy Hjort finished at 55. ³Overall we had some good rounds in those meets but we werenıt consistent enough,² said Milaca Coach Doug Reetz. Milaca hosts a RRC meet today (Thursday) at 4 p.m., then travels to the Mora Invitational Friday at noon. The Wolves are at the Purple Hawk Invitational at Cambridge Monday, May 5, at noon.
