Mabel Feigum

Funeral services for Mabel C. Feigum, 99, of Pine City and formerly of Glenwood, were 2 p.m. Friday, May 9 at the Glenwood Lutheran Church in Glenwood with the Rev. Ralph Peterson officiating. Visitation was two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers included John Dalsveen, Arnie Billmark, Gordie Billmark, Jeff Johnson, John Johnson and Greg Feigum. Musical selections were provided by granddaughter Julie and husband Kurt Johnson and grandson Gordie Billmark shared memories of Grandma.

Mabel died on Saturday, May 3, 2003 at the Lakeside Medical Center in Pine City.

She was born February 22, 1904 to Nels and Anna (Bergland) Westin on the banks of the St. Croix River in Grantsburg, Wis. She grew up in the Kingsdale, Minn. area, where she also attended country school. The day after her birthday in 1921 she married Robert Feigum in Minneapolis. They lived in Minneapolis for a few years before moving back to Kingsdale. Mabel served as the postmistress for many years, while she and Robert were very active in the day to day operations of their General Store in Kingsdale. In 1951 they moved to Glenwood where they built and operated the Stay Awhile Park Grocery Store on Lake Minnewaska. They retired in the mid-1950s. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, quilting and crossword puzzles. Every year, she looked forward to times of picking berries.

Mabel is survived by eight children, Norma and husband Lloyd Dalsveen of Brook Park, Margaret Austin of Milaca, Joyce and husband Roy Billmark of Milaca, Russell and wife Theresa Feigum of Pine City, Donald and wife Willow Feigum of Glenwood, Merlin and wife Lois Feigum of Brook Park, Nancy and husband Don Johnson of Akeley, Minn., Peter and wife Becky Feigum of Anchorage, Alaska; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; son-in-law, Lynn Coleman of Waynesboro, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one daughter, Constance Coleman; one son, Robert Jr. and his wife Zelda; one brother, Peter; and son-in-law, Dale Austin.
