Milaca Peewee Reese team takes 10-7 record into playoffs

Milaca tipped Princeton 10-8 in a Peewee Reese division (12-and-under) Tier 1 game Thursday, June 26, at Princeton.

The win boosted Milaca to a 10-7 record.

Milaca was scheduled to begin playoff action Tuesday.

Jeff Rusk is head coach for Milaca while Andy VanSomeren and Tony Hass are assistant coaches.

Jordan Patnode pitched three innings against Princeton while Ryan VanSomeren and Alex Hass each pitched two frames.

Milaca broke to a quick 8-4 lead by scoring five runs in the first inning and three in the second.

Jared Sikkink cracked three hits to lead Milaca¹s offense while Alex Hass had two hits.

Following is a recap of Milaca¹s games.

€Monticello 10, Milaca 2, June 18 at Pease.

Patnode had a pair of hits while Alex Hass, Tyler Norrgard and Travis Hanenburg each had one hit.

Alex Hass pitched three innings while Sikkink pitched two.

€St. Michael-Albertville 9, Milaca 1, June 17, at Pease.

Sikkink and Tate Rusk each had one hit against the league¹s No. 1 team.

€Milaca 10, Sartell 3, June 11, at Sartell.

VanSomeren and Alex Hass each pitched three innings while Norrgard hurled one inning.

Sikkink finished with three hits while Alex Hass, Elliot Hass and Hanenburg each had two hits. VanSomeren, Rusk, Jon Vander Hoek, Norrgard, Patnode and Brandon Sundberg had one hit apiece.

Milaca used three straight hits in the bottom of the seventh inning to grab the victory.

Sikkink and Alex Hass had two hits each while VanSomeren, Elliot Hass, Vander Hoek, Norrgard, Hanenburg and Patnode each had one hit.

Alex Hass, Norrgard and VanSomeren combined to pitch the win.

€Milaca 18, Becker 6, June 5, at Becker.

Milaca rolled to the win as it scored five runs in the first inning and eight more in the second.

Norrgard pitched three innings and Patnode pitched two frames in the five-inning game.

Vander Hoek slammed four hits and Sikkink, Rusk and Elliot Hass added three hits each. Alex Hass, VanSomeren and Norrgard each had two hits.

Milaca strung together seven straight hits in its eight-run second inning.

Sikkink made his debut pitched and tossed three scoreless innings. Alex Hass pitched two frames and VanSomeren pitched one inning in the pitching duel.

VanSomeren had Milaca¹s lone hit.

€Milaca 13, Princeton 1, June 1 at the Princeton Tournament.

Milaca won the game by the 10-run rule as it scored six runs in the first inning, three in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth.

Norrgard pitched three innings while Patnode pitched two.

Sikkink, VanSomeren, Rusk, Elliot Hass, Norrgard, Hanenburg and Patnode each had two hits to pace a balanced attack.

Milaca took a 6-0 lead by scoring two runs in the first inning and four in the second.

Alex Hass, Norrgard and VanSomeren combined to pitch the win.

VanSomeren and Elliot Hass each had two hits.

€Sartell 10, Milaca 9, May 31, at the Princeton Tournament.

Rusk and VanSomeren each had three hits while Elliot Hass and Alex Hass had two hits apiece.

Milaca rallied to within a run by scoring three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

VanSomeren and Alex Hass shared pitching duties, each going three innings in the setback.

Sikkink had Milaca¹s lone hit.

€Milaca 12, St. Francis 2, May 29, at St. Francis.

Alex Hass slammed three hits while Sikkink and Vander Hoek each had two.

Milaca scored four runs in the first inning and five more in the third.

Norrgard, Alex Hass and VanSomeren teamed up to pitch the victory.

€Buffalo 12, Milaca 7, May 27 at Buffalo.

Sikkink, Vander Hoek, Elliot Hass and Hanenburg led Milaca with two hits each.

€Milaca 8, Cambridge 3, June 20, at Pease.

Rusk had a pair of hits, including a fence-clearing home run. VanSomeren added three hits to the Milaca offense while Sikkink also had two hits.

Alex Hass, Rusk and VanSomeren combined to pitch the win.

€Milaca 19, Princeton 13, May 16, at Pease.

Six runs in the third inning and eight in the fourth were Milaca¹s big scoring bursts.

Alex Hass slammed four hits while VanSomeren and Vander Hoek had three hits each.

Chris Rau, Norrgard, Rusk and Sikkink had two hits each while Elliot Hass cracked an out-of-the-park home run and Brandon Sundberg, Patnode and Hanenburg each had one hit.

€Milaca 5, Anoka 4, May 15, at Anoka.

Norrgard slammed a long home run while Elliot Hass, Patnode and Sikkink had two hits each.

VanSomeren and Alex Hass each pitched three innings while Norrgard pitched one inning.

€Big Lake 10, Milaca 6, May 3 at Pease.

VanSomeren and Rusk each had two hits while Sikkink, Alex Hass, Elliot Hass, Vander Hoek and Norrgard each had one.

Trailing 10-0, Milaca sliced the margin by scoring four runs in the fourth inning and solo runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

TEAM NOTES: Sikkink batted .604 to lead Milaca during the regular season. Rusk hit .476, Alex Hass hit .466, VanSomeren batted .447, Elliot Hass batted .413, Vander Hoek hit .405 and Norrgard had a .309 average.
