Milaca pole vaulters advance to Junior Olympics nationals

Coach Pat Coffee and his young crew of pole vaulters have been enjoying a successful summer season.

Ninth graders Caleb Coffee and Kelly Nelson and juniors Hannah Coffee and Amanda Prasnicki represented Milaca at the State Junior Olympic Meet June 28 at Hamline University in St. Paul.

Caleb Coffee placed first in the young boys division with a height of 9-feet, 6-inches. Prasnicki placed third in the intermediate girls division with a height of 9-0, Hannah Coffee was fifth in the young womenıs division at 9-0 and Nelson was fourth in the intermediate girls division with a height of 8-6.

All four advanced to the regional meet July 12-13 at St. Thomas University.

Caleb Coffee won his division at the region meet with a height of 11-0 while Prasnicki placed third in her division with a height of 9-0.

The top three placers in each division advanced to the national Junior Olympics meet which began Monday and continues through Sunday (Aug. 3) in Miami, Fla.
