Funeral services for John Christianson, 82, were held Wednesday, July 30, 2003 at the St. Louis Catholic Church in Foreston with Fr. James Cashman officiating.

Burial was in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Ambrose, Edward, Dan and Steve Christianson, James Reichle and Darrell Fortin.

Arrangements were with the Peterson-Johnson Funeral Home of Milaca.

John died Saturday, July 26, 2003 at the St. Cloud Veterans Hospital.

John Carl Christianson was born January 22, 1921 to Elmer and Susan Eleanor (Vonderharr) Christianson in Grandville, Iowa. He attended school in Hospers, Iowa where he graduated from high school. John entered the United States Navy in September of 1942 and served during World War II. He married Phyllis Sammons on April 3, 1948 in Sioux City, Iowa. In 1953 the couple moved to Foreston where John farmed. John was a member of the St. Louis Catholic Church and was active in the community. He served on the Foreston City Council and served as mayor. John was a member of the Foley American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by son, John and wife Laura of Becker, Minn.; daughter, Kathy Christianson and husband Stan of East Bethel, Minn.; four grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Sophia and Caleb; three sisters, Matilda Reichle of Princeton, Delores Nye of Eden Prairie, Minn. and Betty Fortin of Sioux City, Iowa; three brothers, Ambrose and wife JoAnne of Columbia Heights, Minn., Edward and wife Margaret of Chicago, Ill. and Gerald and wife RoseMary of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother and one sister.
